On Monday 8th October year 6 had a great Sulby river adventure. After visiting Sulby reservoir they travelled to Ramsey following the river then, with Venture Centre instructors, they canoed up river then back down and into Ramsey harbour. It was a grand day out with lots of fun and learning!
Well done to all the children who took the time to create posters and make their speeches for the School Council Elections. I am pleased to introduce to you our new school council members for this year, I am sure they will all do a fantastic job of representing their classes this year.
As part of the Manx Litfest Schools’ Day, Year 5 were lucky enough to have the author Rakie Bennett come and visit them. She introduced them to a novel approach of creating a monster character. Year 6 recently took part in some STEM Sessions with Young Engineers Isle of Man. They thoroughly enjoyed using the specialist Lego they have to produce some wonderful creations. Thank you to Kewaigue PTA who funded these sessions. More sessions will follow for the rest of the school this term.
Year 2 enjoyed a workshop from Young Engineers Isle of Man over two Fridays in September. In week 1 they created a fairground wheel and in week 2 they made a boat. Today we gave out our first ever Platinum Awards to children who have learnt over 100 house points in the school year. This is no easy job and is something no-one has ever achieved at Kewaigue School before. Well done to Elizabeth, Amy and Megan.
