As part of the Manx Litfest Schools’ Day, Year 5 were lucky enough to have the author Rakie Bennett come and visit them. She introduced them to a novel approach of creating a monster character. She caught the interest and imagination of the class with just a short introduction. They enthusiastically began their own creations following the technique she had suggested. Once the children had begun to draw their monster imaginations ran riot. They went on to further create their characters, by discussing some of the dislikes and likes their monster might have. It was a thoroughly enjoyable workshop.
